Hi! My name is Jennifer. I currently work for Mesquite ISD, where I am taking on a new position this next fall of Attendance Secretary. I worked in the special education department for the past two years doing inclusion and being a resource aide. I enjoyed it very much, but the district made cuts so I had to take on a new role so that I could stay at the same school.
I finally decided to get back on track to finishing my degree. After attending a meeting about the online degree program with Lamar University, I decided it was right for me, and I applied for admission. My plans are to finish my degree with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences by the end of spring 2016, or if need be I will take a class or two in the following summer of 2016. After that, I will get my alternate certification to teach.
Why did I take so long to get working on this? Well, I have been a stay at home mom while my three children were young, and I wanted to put all my time and effort in for them. I didn’t think it would be possible, I guess, to focus on anything else. Now though, they see how focused I am on school and their well being, and they thrive because of it too. It’s a good example for them to see as well.
I’m so very proud of my babies. I have Bridget, who will be 15 this year, Ethan will be 13, and Ava will be 10. They are all very smart and doing so well in school. Bridget is going in to high school this fall! She’ll be starting marching band, and I’m excited to be a “band mom.” Ethan will be starting 8th grade and he’s been placed in some pre-ap classes too. Ava will be in the 4th grade, and she will be in her 2nd year of our Quest program.
Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for viewing my site. This next year should be very adventurous and fulfilling. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for me. Hopefully a full time teaching position!
